Holden Crewman

VY Series

September 2003 - August 2004

Holden has redefined the concept of a crew cab light commercial with the introduction of its Crewman four door ute. The Australian-built Holden Crewman is the first passenger-derivative crew cab to hit the local market and the only one to combine sedan-style comfort and performance and handling with flexible passenger accommodation and heavy-duty load capacity.

The four-door Crewman will accommodate up to five people and has a maximum carrying capacity of more than 1,000 kilograms. (including occupants, fuel and accessories). Like its One Tonner stablemate, the Crewman gains its strength from a unique torque arm system that links the chassis to the cabin. The exceptional torsional rigidity this system provides translates into increased durability, excellent ride quality and reduced vibration levels which contribute to sedan-standard cabin comfort. With its robust variable four-leaf spring rear suspension, high load-rated wheels and tyres, heavy duty brake systems, transmissions and competitor-leading rear axle loadings, Crewman also shares most of its load-carrying credentials, as well as the class leading wheelbase and track dimensions, with the Holden One Tonner.

Measuring 5305mm tip to tail (5310mm for the SS), Crewman is the longest Holden yet. Its rear tray will accommodate all kinds of cargo. Strong towing power gives even more flexibility - capacity for V6 Crewman models is rated to 2100kg and the V8 Crewman auto is rated to 2500kg. With its rear seats folded away, Crewman also offers a large amount of secure cabin storage space.

Crewman and Crewman S models share the Holden One Tonner's axle loads of 1180 kilograms (front) and 1800 kilograms (rear), with a Gross Vehicle Mass of 2826 kilograms. The Crewman SS has a rear axle load of 1460 kilograms and Gross Vehicle Mass of 2535 kilograms. Carrying capacity varies according to the model and use, ranging from 1087 kilograms for V6 Crewman models to 750 kilograms for the Crewman SS.

Crewman is available in 5 colours - White, Redhot, Phantom Black, Turbine Grey and Cosmo purple on the SS only.

The Crewman Cross 8 is the first All Wheel Drive (AWD) Commodore Ute variant, powered by the V8.
